Travaris McCurdy was educated in the Orange County Public School System, graduating from Olympia High School’s inaugural class in 2002. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science.

 

Travaris has served as the Chief Legislative Aide to State Senators Geraldine Thompson and Randolph Bracy. He also worked as the deputy political director for the national Super PAC, For Our Future.

 

His community involvement includes serving as a former OCPS-ACE school board member and West Lakes Partnership board member. He is an active member of the NAACP and the Orange County Democratic Black Caucus. Travaris is also the founder of the Mobile Library service, which provides free books to children throughout Orange County. He is a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church and the Orlando Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

 

Travaris served as a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 2020 to 2022. In 2023, he joined the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, managing small business development.
